Performance is built on discipline, scale, and detail but the moments that define it often live in the spaces between. A breath before a phrase, a glance exchanged in rehearsal, the way light and movement shifts a scene just enough to change its meaning: that’s where I focus my work.
Great imagery doesn’t just show a production, it makes you feel it. It carries the energy of creation, the tension of storytelling, and the texture of performance into the spaces where audiences first encounter a show: press, marketing, programmes, and media. I work best when I’m quietly integrated into the rhythm of a production, collaborating with creative and marketing teams to produce images that serve both campaigns and audiences.
I came to photography after many years working as an actor, so rehearsal rooms, production weeks, and the pressures of creative collaboration feel entirely natural to me. That background shapes how I work: responsively with a clear instinct for when to step closer and when to disappear. I’m comfortable working unobtrusively under pressure, responding to the pace of the room and allowing images to emerge from the process rather than interrupt it.
I’ve collaborated with opera and theatre companies large and small across the UK and internationally, alongside a wide range of producing theatres, conservatoires, and festivals. Whether documenting a rehearsal or a production in full flight, my aim is always the same: evocative photography that reflects the ambition of the work and stands up in public-facing use.
My images have been published nationally and internationally in titles including The Guardian, The Times, The Telegraph, The Financial Times, and The New York Times, and are regularly used across press, marketing, and editorial platforms.
This website reflects both the creative spirit I’ve witnessed over the years and my approach to documenting it with care, clarity, and intent.
